Good week for the under-21s

Having lost at Sheffield United in the previous week, the under-21s enjoyed a really good week with a big win in the Premier League Cup followed by another in the league.
Last Friday we kicked off the cup campaign with a 4-1 win at Luton and yesterday beat Peterborough 5-2 in the league with all of Tom Tweedy, Joe Westley, Joe Bevan and Benn Ward scoring their first league goals of the season before Kamarni Ryan notched his sixth to complete the scoring.
With second place Hull having no game, the Peterborough win has taken us within a point of them although they do now have a game in hand. It also enabled leaders Sheffield United to move seven points clear at the top after they beat Wigan on Tuesday.
The other two north group games were played last Friday with Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday recording home wins against the bottom two Crewe and Coventry. Wednesday stay three points behind us with two games in hand. Three games were played in the south group with the key game between the top two Charlton and Cardiff last Saturday in Cardiff. It was 0-0 with not much more than a quarter of an hour remaining but then Cardiff struck twice to win the game 2-0.
Charlton are now just three points clear and have played a game more. Bristol City and Ipswich both won in Tuesday games and they?ve now moved ahead of Bournemouth into third and fourth places.
This week will see five games played in the north group and just two in the south but it?s another double header for us with a cup...
