Kitchen is a new referee for Burnley

Andrew Kitchen will referee our home game tomorrow against QPR and it will be the first time the Durham official has taken charge of a Burnley game.
He is now in his fourth season as a Football League referee and it all started on the opening day of the 2021/22 season when he was given the League Two game between Salford and Leyton Orient. The game ended in a 1-1 draw and it was the same with the yellow cards with each team picking up one.
Embed from Getty ImagesHe refereed exclusively in Leagues One and Two in his first season and it was exactly the same in the next season although he did referee the play-off semi-final first leg between Bolton and Barnsley in League One.
Our opponents tomorrow, QPR, were the home side when he first refereed in the Championship and he started with a red card for Swansea substitute Ollie Cooper in the eighth minute of stoppage time with QPR having just equalised through Lyndon Dykes after former Burnley player Josh Ginnelly had given Swansea an early lead. Only three times since has he refereed a league game below the Championship, one of them his most recent game. He started this season with six Championship games before dropping into League Two on Tuesday this week. In his seven games so far there have been a way above average high of 36 yellow cards, over five per game, and one red card.
