Youth team stay second after latest win

Having lost top spot a week earlier with the defeat against new leaders Sheffield United, the under-18s did all they could to regain top spot with a 3-1 win against Fleetwood last Saturday.
Two goals from Kian McMahon-Brown and one from Brandon Pouani ensured victory against the bottom team and then all eyes were on Sheffield United?s game at Wigan which kicked off an hour later.
It looked as though Sheffield United were going to run away with it when they went 3-0 up within the first half hour but Wigan came back to go into half time with just a one goal deficit. Jevan Beattie completed a hat trick for the visitors and they scored again just past the hour to go 5-2 in front. Wigan came back again but Sheffield United won it 5-4.
That wasn?t the highest scoring game in the north group. Barnsley beat Peterborough 6-4 at home. All of the Barnsley goals came in the first half. They were 6-1 in front at half time only for Peterborough to score three second half goals. Hull were the other winners in the north, winning 3-1 at Birmingham while the Coventry v Crewe game ended in a 2-2 draw.
Sheffield United now have 23 points, one more than us and from one less game. Closest to us from behind are Sheffield Wednesday with four points less while Hull, our opponents this Saturday, are five behind with a game in hand.
The top two in the south, Bristol City and Bournemouth, both won. Bournemouth scored four times but the biggest scorers, hardly surprisingly, were playing QPR. Watford be...
