“Always consider it” – Attacker says he’s open to Liverpool transfer despite Everton spell
Former Everton forward Arnaut Danjuma has admitted he’s open to joining Liverpool in the future.
The 27-year-old was on loan at Everton from Villarreal last season and scored two goals from 20 games in all competitions for the Toffees. He returned to the La Liga side, who sent him out on loan to Girona in the summer window.
Prior to joining Everton, the player had held talks with Liverpool manager Arne Slot over joining his former club, Feyenoord.
Danjuma has been speaking to ESPN NL’s De Voetbalkantine and his quotes are relayed by FC Update.
Danjuma has revealed he came close to joining Feyenoord before signing for Everton on a loan deal. Despite being a fan of the current Liverpool boss, the Dutchman didn’t consider a move to the Eredivisie side. “The year before [mid-2023], Feyenoord had shown a bit more interest in me. That was mainly when Arne Slot was coach there. I considered it at the time and spoke to Slot,” he said.
“I’m a fan of his playing style and have a lot of confidence in him as a manager. But I thought at the time that it wasn’t the right step for me. I think Girona is also a nice step now, which suits my career.”
Liverpool, who are Everton’s arch-rivals, appointed Slot as Jürgen Klopp’s successor in the summer. The attacker doesn’t take the rivalry between the two clubs into consideration, when talking about the possibility of making a switch to Anfield.
