Neil Warnock says some of Manchester United’s signings under Erik ten Hag would not have got into his Huddersfield Town team in the Championship.

Warnock, who left his role as manager of second-tier side Huddersfield in September, feels United boss Ten Hag will be sacked amid mounting pressure on the Dutchman.

The 74-year-old slammed Ten Hag in an interview on talkSPORT, taking aim at the team’s philosophy and his decision to make Bruno Fernandes captain as well as some of the flops he has brought to Old Trafford during his spell at United.

Antony, for example, who Ten Hag signed from his former club Ajax for a whopping £85m, has registered just 11 goal involvements across 53 games for the Red Devils, although Warnock did not specifically name him in Wednesday’s rant.
Quizzed about Ten Hag, Warnock said: ‘I thought when he first came over that he was going to be the answer, because they needed a disciplinarian in that environment.

‘But I’ve got to say, I’ve not enjoyed watching how he has gone about it. The money that he has spent? people forget.

‘The owners, no matter what you think about them, they have spent some massive money.

‘Some of the players he has paid £60-£70m for, I wouldn’t have had them with me at Huddersfield.
