The Nerazzurri have found their Andre Onana replacement For a second straight summer, Inter has a new goalkeeper. Yann Sommer is the San Siro?s newest netminder, arriving from Bayern Munich for a ?6 million fee (his release clause) to be paid over two years. The 34-year-old has signed on a three-year contract until June 26.
Sommer joined Bayern as recently as January after 9 seasons at Borussia Monchengladbach and has also managed 83 caps for the Swiss national team. His experience and quality will be very needed for Inter after the departures of Andre Onana and Samir Handanovic (Sampdoria keeper Emil Audero is reportedly the Handanovic replacement) this summer. Though Sommer is a definite downgrade on Onana, it?s not too steep a step unless he ages faster than expected. At 34 he should have at least another season or two at the top level left to command Inter?s back line.
What are your thoughts on Sommer?s arrival" Is he the man to fill Onana?s shoes" Let us know in the comments below.
