There are so much time for this team to develop into what Thiago Motta wants it to be. There is now way around it: Sunday?s match against Cagliari was a disappointment for Juventus and new manager Thiago Motta. What seemed like an easy match against a club that is often facing an upward battle in or just outside of the Serie A relegation zone turned out to be a bit more difficult than expected. While Juventus dominated possession, shots, on-target shots, and unfortunately fouls, the boys in black and white ? or rather yellow this time around ? could not get their three points.
Now, it is very easy to see this match and other draws against other provincial clubs like Empoli as a sign of the worst. Additionally, the stalemate matches against larger clubs like Roma and Napoli may give fans pause during the first two months of a season. There is admittedly a good deal to be concerned about when it comes to this very young iteration of the Juventus starting XI. While Dusan Vlahovic may be performing well so far, his inability to put the nail in the coffin during important moments has been a drawback. Douglas Luiz has had an extremely difficult time adjusting to his new club, even so far as being the reason for back-to-back penalties during the Champions League match against Red Bull Leipzig and then in the Cagliari draw.
