Thiago Motta shares his thoughts after his team edges Lazio in their first game out of the October international break. Despite playing nearly-three quarters of Saturday night?s matchup against Lazio with a man advantage, things were not exactly easy or straightforward for Thiago Motta?s shorthanded Juventus squad. Motta figured things were going to be heading into his team?s return from the international break, and that proved to be exactly the case no matter if it was against 11 men or 10.
Motta figured Lazio were going to be a tough out, and that was certainly the case even after Alessio Romagnoli was sent off for a last-ditch tackle attempt on Pierre Kalulu. Lazio defended about as well as anybody has against Juventus this season despite being down a man, only for the Bianconeri to get the only goal of the night thanks to an own goal off a Juan Cabal cross with five minutes to go before second-half stoppage time. ?It was a complicated match, we faced a team in good form, that defends with great organization, full of good players ? they are capable of doing well not just against us, but against everyone,? Motta said after Juve?s 1-0 win at the Allianz Stadium. ?We tried until the end, with some mistakes and other things done well, to get a deserved and important result: three points are great, but now we focus on Stuttgart who had a bad day today, but will be very dangerous opponents.
