An interesting twist as Juve find themselves in need of one of their better defenders to actually play. As we sat around during the summer months and watched Juventus? roster undergo a massive overhaul, many of us thought that Danilo was very much going to be an important piece to Thiago Motta?s setup at Juventus. It only made a whole sense ? he had been the captain for a couple of years now and was coming off another solid season despite his mid-3os approaching.
But through the first two months of the 2024-25 campaign, you don?t need many fingers to count how many games Danilo has started under Motta. And as time has gone on, it?s become pretty clear that there is a very good reason for that. That?s because Danilo, who is still one of the best fullbacks on Motta?s roster, has very much been on a strict appearance restriction due to a clause in his contract that would kick in if he appears in 50% of Juventus? games this season. But, according to a report from Fabrizio Romano on Friday and later confirmed by Tuttosport on Saturday morning, Danilo is going to try and get that clause removed from his contract, a deal that is currently set to expire next summer.
