Fans of Premier League club Leicester City could be heard singing ‘this is embarrassing’ during their Carabao Cup scare against Walsall.

The Foxes could not beat their League Two opponents in regular time, instead requiring a penalty shootout to squeeze past them and reach the fourth round.

Before the shootout got underway – with the score at 0-0 – Leicester fans voiced their displeasure at their team’s performance at the Poundland Bescot Stadium.

‘Walsall deserve more than that,’ Former Premier League defender Curtis Davies told the BBC after Steve Cooper’s side won on penalties.

‘They should keep their heads up and are flying in League Two. They went toe-to-to with a Premier League team and forced them to penalties.
‘I think they can take that and improve on their league form even more.

‘Walsall should have won it in normal time and penalties are the least they deserve. Leicester will be really disappointed. They have been so, so sloppy.’
