A couple of days ago we covered claims from Belgium which stated Leicester City were going in ‘100%’ to sign Bilal El Khannouss from Genk.
The 20-year-old is no stranger to links with Premier League clubs, and has in the past been been mentioned in the same breath as Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City.
However, none of those claims appeared especially serious and looked like hype around the youngster was potentially getting a little bit carried away.
There hasn’t been a big battle to sign the attacking midfielder this summer, and the Belgian slant for that is Genk asking for more than many clubs want to pay.
The initial reports about Leicester City stated the Foxes were expected to submit an offer in the region of £15-20m. It was also claimed personal terms had been agreed between El Khannouss and the Premier League club on the basis of a five-year deal. Bob Faesen, a Belgian journalist who specialises in Genk, states Leicester City’s offer is actually ?15-20m, by that one would assume it’s ?15m plus ?5m in potential bonuses.
That isn’t enough for Genk, states Faesen, and it’s said negotiations have now started between the two clubs.
