A case of when not if manager ends up at Manchester City – Big Guardiola announcement incoming
Sporting Club de Portugal manager Rúben Amorim will follow Hugo Viana to Manchester City, it is just a matter of when he does so.
That?s according to journalist Nuno Farinha, via Mais Futebol, who reports that Amorim?s future depends on what Pep Guardiola decides in the next month.
Sporting have already been raided by Manchester City in the past few weeks, with director of football Hugo Viana set to move to the Etihad next summer to replace Txiki Begiristain.
His impending move has led to reports that Amorim could follow him, particularly if Guardiola decides to leave at the end of his current contract.
That expires next summer, and the Catalan coach is yet to decide on what happens next. He will have spent nine years at Manchester City by the time his contract comes to an end, the longest managerial spell of his career to date after four years at Barcelona and three at Bayern Munich. Much will depend on the result of Manchester City?s battle with the Premier League, with their case over 115 charges set to be finalised and decided upon soon.
Reports in England have stated that Guardiola may not wish to leave if they are found guilty in any capacity and punished harshly because of that, perhaps even signing a short-term extension to help the club after a potentially huge punishment.
And Farinha says Amorim?s future is dependent on Guardiola, but he will end up at Manchester City at some point in the near future.
