Diogo Dalot has signed a new contract at Manchester United until 2028 and feels the club are ‘at the start of a special journey’ under Erik ten Hag.

United finished third in the Premier League this season under the Dutch manager, who arrived at Old Trafford in the summer and guided the Red Devils to glory in the Carabao Cup – their first piece of major silverware in six years.

There may be a second trophy on the way as United face Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday as they look to stop their rivals from achieving a treble – with Pep Guardiola’s Premier League winners also in the Champions League final.
United right-back Dalot, 24, has been a key player under Ten Hag this term, making 42 appearances, and the Portugal international – who joined the club in 2018 – has signed a new five-year deal with the option to extend for an extra year.

‘Playing for Manchester United is one of the highest honours that you can have in football,’ he told the club’s website on Wednesday.

‘We have shared some fantastic moments over the past five years, and I?ve grown so much and my passion for this incredible club has only increased since the day that I joined.
