AC Milan Close Off 2023 Against Sassuolo As The Defence Is Decimated

The Rossoneri just need to survive the game and hope for a positive result until the transfer window opens. AC Milan?s final game of a dreadful calendar year. 2023 has been a tough one with inconsistency being the key word. Stefano Pioli faces a bogey side in Sassuolo who would love to pile on the misery and Domenico Berardi is surely licking his lips after seeing Antonio Candreva goal last weekend.
The Rossoneri have lost their best performer of the season in Fikayo Tomori to a muscle injury with two months as the estimate of his time out. That means the iffy Simon Kjaer starts alongside Theo Hernandez in his makeshift role. Davide Calabria and Alessandro Florenzi will flank them and there is no room for error as there is no depth beyond Jan-Carlo Simic and Davide Bartesaghi - both academy graduates. Inter Milan and Napoli dropped points last night making this an ideal opportunity to slightly claw back up the table but knowing Milan, a disappointment is likely. As a note, Milan have lost their previous 3 games against Sassuolo at the San Siro including a big 5-2 thumping in January.
Expected Line Up (4-3-3): Maignan, Calabria, Kjaer, Hernandez, Florenzi, Loftus-Cheek, Bennacer, Reijnders, Pulisic, Giroud, Leao.
