Milan stunned by Torino early on but manage to dig deep and secure a draw in additional time. AC Milan started their Serie A season last night with a disappointing 2-2 draw against Torino at the San Siro which is the first opening day since 2020/21 missing a victory. Milan went down 2-0 after 70 minutes as the defence and midfield faltered and struggled to deal with the counter attacks.
Alvaro Morata was the only summer signing to get his debut on the first match day and he repaid the manager?s faith scoring his first goal for the Rossoneri. He pulled one back in the 89 minute with a decisive stretch of the leg to redirect Tijjani Reijnders wayward shot on goal. The striker then faced off with Torino defender Tameze over time wasting and got booked. With 8 minutes of additional time, Milan piled on the pressure and Torino eventually cracked as Yunus Musah delivered a great cross into the centre of the box where Noah Okafor was waiting and cleanly hit the ball into the back of the net with a clinical finish to equalise and save our blushes on the opening weekend.
Paulo Fonseca survives an early humiliation but needs to recognise that his starters are all wrong and he needs to take players off when they are not performing. It is still early in the season but the side looked too similar to Stefano Pioli?s from last season.
