NORWICH CITY WOMEN: Five-star City cruise through to FA Cup First Round
It?s that time of the week again when I review all things Norwich City Women as they look to get back to winning ways in the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round.
The Canaries? last game saw the points shared in a 0-0 draw with Real Bedford at The Nest. Although we may have gotten used to them steamrollering teams at home in recent seasons, to see a cagey encounter against two evenly-matched sides was quite refreshing, even if Norwich didn?t come away with the win.
What?s more, the Canaries took a point from a clear title rival, meaning they remain top of the WNL Division One South East by a solitary point.
Couple that with an unbeaten start still and being top going into November, and it?s fair to say life for Andy Cook?s side is good right now even after three consecutive league draws.
Moving onto the cup, the Canaries welcomed tier-five?s Needham Market to NR10.
The Suffolk-based outfit are currently in the relegation zone in the Eastern Region Women?s Football League Premier Division and lost 8-1 away in their last match to Royston.
Despite this, Norwich is a club that have always shown respect for their opposition and certainly didn?t underestimate them.
After all, City certainly have their fair share of cup upsets. It was in this competition last season that the club upset the status quo and beat tier-three Hashtag United in what was one of the biggest results of last season.
So, the stage was set as 228 packed The Nest to witness cup action.
