?It?s my dream? – Yuri Alberto on failed Southampton move, Saints can sign him in January
Southampton have failed to sign Corinthians? Yuri Alberto on two occasions this year, but now have another chance.
That?s according to Trivela, who state the Brazilian club are willing to let the striker leave at the end of this year.
Southampton first made an approach in January. This ?never reached? the 23-year-old because his side refused to let him leave.
It?s claimed the Saints also made an offer for Alberto in the summer window. They wanted to sign him on loan [?3m loan fee] with a purchase option set at ?18m.
The Premier League side?s offer was ?considered good? by Corinthians, but they still didn?t sanction a move. That?s because they didn’t have enough time to bring in a replacement.
Corinthians have added André Carrillo and Memphis Depay to their squad. In addition to this, they are chasing Flamengo?s Gabriel Barbosa. Therefore, they are open to letting Alberto leave if there?s a convincing offer in January. Trivela state the Brazil international continues to dream of playing in the Premier League. He initially expressed his admiration towards Corinthians and their fans, and then talked about his plans for the future.
?I play for one of the biggest teams in the world. I am happy at Corinthians. Today, my life is Corinthians. I play for myself, for my family and for each and every one of this crazy bunch. I have the utmost respect for this fanbase that never tires of supporting us, both in good times and in bad. It is different from anything I have ever seen...
