Stoke City goalkeeper Viktor Johansson has told the Swedish media he?s not completely confident he will start in Sweden?s upcoming UEFA Nations League games.
Last month the 25-year-old made his competitive debut for his country due to the absence of Aston Villa?s Robin Olsen.
Speaking to Fotbollskanalen, the Stoke City summer signing was asked if he felt he?d done enough in last month?s games to keep his place in abscense of the injured Olsen.
Johansson believes he has a 33% chance of starting against Slovakia due to the competition for places. He said the coach will make the right choice in his selection and all he can do is impress in training.
?I maintain that there is a 33% chance. It feels best that way. I want to do as well as possible in training and then it’s up to the coaches to make the choice,? said the Stoke City player. The Sweden international signed for Stoke City from Rotherham United during the summer and has started the Potters opening nine league games.
His form in the past couple of years has brought him international recognition and he made his debut in a friendly against Moldova in 2023.
With Olsen again sidelined for this international break there?s a chance Johansson could pick up his fourth cap when Sweden take on Slovakia in the Nations League on Friday night.
