Gary Neville has slammed Tottenham defenders Cristian Romero and Eric Dier as ‘shambolic’ following their 4-3 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday.

Just a week after conceding five goals in the opening 21 minutes at Newcastle, history nearly repeated itself at Anfield when Spurs found themselves 3-0 down after just 15 minutes.

Romero, Dier and Pedro Porro were all culpable as Curtis Jones and Luis Diaz put the Reds 2-0 up inside five minutes, before Romero fouled Cody Gakpo in the box with Mohamed Salah scoring the subsequent penalty.

Tottenham did get a grip of the game after this, with Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Richarlison scoring to level the game in injury time, only for Diogo Jota to score a 94th minute winner after he was gifted the ball by Lucas Moura.
There is no getting away from the Lilywhites’ awful defending that has seen them concede 14 goals in their last four games.

‘You?d have to go a long way to see two defenders have as bad a week as Eric Dier and Romero – they are all over the place,’ Manchester United legend Neville said on Sky Sports.

‘Absolute shambles they are at the back. The lack of composure from Romero is staggering and the choice of charging out by Dier, with his experience, he?s done it two or three times in this game already and he shakes his head.
