The Arsenal transfer leadership command center is working Brentford hard for goalkeeper David Raya. The Spaniard is 27 years old, he has a lot of experience getting beaten up in The Championship, and he’s played a lot of games for a very good Brentford side.

You don’t need to guess – he’d be coming to Arsenal to compete for Aaron Ramsdale’s shirt.
There are a few reasons for this:
#1 He’s a better shot-stopper than Ramsdale by quite a monstrous number. Aaron’s save percentage is 67% – Raya sits at 77%. That is the difference between 4th best in the league and 12th. Aaron underperforms expected saves, Raya overperforms. We’ve already seen Aaron make two mistakes from distance in preseason. #2 He can do the same things on the ball as Ramsdale, but maybe slightly better from distance. I don’t think there’s a huge discrepancy here, because could there be, Aaron is great on the ball. But one thing you might not have noticed… but under pressure, Aaron will launch into nowhere. Aaron is better at middle distances and short genearlly.
That said, this could be situational. Brentford aren’t known for playing out the back and they have taller players which makes longballs more likely to find their target.
